Brezhnev in Kiev
On the eleventh of December the Gallery of Bereznitsky Aesthetics will present a personal exhibition of Ukrainian artist Alexandra Chichkan Scissors Plot.
Her works the artist created a patchworks of pages of glossy magazines. The exhibition will feature a portrait of Brezhnev with the eyes of reptiles, crosses, swastikas, mushroom and Leonardo da Vinci, on each of the works she has worked for over a month. For their creation she took about seven thousand small pieces of paper and 2,500 compasses.
“I cut the log, delete it and make a different product. On the creation of this project was inspired by the duality, the struggle of the two hemispheres of the brain, discord, which constantly kills people “, – said Alexander.
“Where the spirit of the artist’s hand leads, where fragments of reality is born the image of the past, and black and white by creating chaos is transformed into perfect system, there turns into the unknown mystery, and allows you to look behind the Iron Curtain.” This phrase, according to the artist, describes her project. “First of all, we are talking about Da Vinci, then the cross-swastika, then about hallucinogenic mushrooms and then about Brezhnev – the Iron Curtain” – adds the artist.
Besides portraits of paper, the project includes manmade Glitch – image with optical illusions.
