Rules of hard negotiator Oleg Demchik
President of the Club of professional negotiators, a certified mediator (Chapman University, USA), ambassador of international project Hackathonbridge for the integration of Ukraine into the European community, told about how to promote the project and fix it on the market for at least 10 years.
10 years ago I worked in the financial and industrial group. In the frames of the project I had to communicate with people, to negotiate. Only three people from my team did it. All the others were excellent professionals, but they were absolutely not able to talk, to convince. Then in Ukraine there were no courses to teach the basic of communication. So I studied the issue. I found the American public speaking training system and on its basis developed a program that later became known as the “Club of professional negotiators.”
In the 90 I involved in combat sports. According to the principles of a sport hall and a club mode: you come, join the group and engaged. It’s simple as fitness classes, aerobics or judo – you keep yourself in shape and perfect the skills, attending classes regularly. There are 15 minutes of theory, all the rest time – a practice. But when you are going out from the Club after two hours, you can use one of the techniques of successful negotiations. I offer tools and teach how to use it and together we will sharp this skill. Participants in the training get a look from the negotiations on its own analysis, constructive criticism, advice and comments. In addition, you constantly have two or more interlocutors, on which you worked through each new skill.
I’m an introvert, but I had to relearn, because the leader cannot be an introvert, or rather, perhaps, but he certainly will have to develop communication skills. It is given to all. Women – more. They have a very well developed empathy, intuition. They are by nature given to negotiate and find common ground with someone, so in sales mainly women work.
Many people are looking for a magic pill and lose business success, time, force. I believe that first of all, a successful businessman has to endure adversity. Even 10 years ago, I decided that whatever it was, that what I do in the first place to myself. Therefore, in my calendar marked for life environment for training at the Club. I’m improving my negotiation skills. And it really helped me get through slumps.
We help people to negotiate. Very often it happens that it is no time for training and companies hire us to solve cases. Our team also has mediators, the officer corps, who are negotiating to release of hostages, working with immigrants.
The more you give energy – the more you get. We need to take risks. I have noticed people who are focused on the past – on how save, as a rule, do not earn. Those who are willing to give, to risk, the Universe will always return a hundredfold. They have a much more chances.
My main motivation for today is enjoy the process.
We have developed a training program that focuses on conflictology: resolution of disputes without fists, and through negotiations. Semester starts in summer, there participants of the Club learn to gather information about his potential interlocutor, efficient and aggressive short-long sales SPIN and the AIDA, and the last module are put on conflictology. People learn to get out of difficult situations, do not allow putting pressure on themselves to recognize a bluff.
Ability to communicate is a constant practice. Imagine if to the ring will come out boxer, who knows a couple of punches and a care in the protection showed in five years ago at the University, and the boxer who regularly trains. What do you think, on whose side would be an advantage?
