TOP-12 Quotes Of Millionaire Garik Korogodskyi
Eccentric Garik Koroпodskyi invited to the press conference in the bus.
Garik Korogodsky is a successful businessman, the co-owner of Dream Town mall. Several years ago, he declared himself as a writer, having published the book How To Spend A Million You Don’t Have. In addition, Korogodskyi is known for financing a lot of projects, including Zhyttieliub Foundation, Text Award, and Generation.ua Program. According to Korogodskyi, he tries himself wherever he wants.
Recently, the news came: the millionaire is involved in the election campaign for mayor of Kyiv. However, the posters featuring the candidate Korogodskyi are rather of entertaining content than propaganda. Has businessman really got a desire to ridicule the absurdity of the campaign? Or does he really need to take the chair? To find the answer to all the questions, we went to Korogodskyi’s press conference.
Arriving at the venue, we saw the bus in front of us. Nothing to say, Garik really surprised us! But the full picture of the event we were able to seen later.
He began the meeting with a talk of Zhyttieliub Foundation, which helps people of retirement age to find new emotions and the feel of taste life. No wonder that Gidropark, where Zhyttieliub Foundation is based, was chosen as a meeting place. Here elderly people get involved in sports, and soon a free cinema for people over 70 years old will appear there. Also Garik plans to open a sandbox for adults only, with tables for dominoes and other interesting stuff. Garik put a symbolic stone with eloquent inscription «I» in the place for its installation.
Then Korogodsky walked around Gidropark with the journalists, showing them his favorite places. According to him, these are intact seventies.
After getting back to the bus, we went to the place where the old monument to Vladimir Lenin was situated. That’s where Korogodskyi laid another stone. According to him, the philanthropist supporting the idea of organizing the place for people in love here. “My first date began near Lenin’s left foot. So I want it to continue to serve as a place for good purposes, but the renovated one”, the philanthropist says.
As you may know the competition of ideas for future Maidan Nezalezhnosti and Shevchenko Boulevard has already taken place. However, the winner “offers too boring solutions” for the resettlement of the place. To impose it with pebbles, according to Korogodskyi, is banal. It isn’t right to put a monument to another person here, either. Garik believes that Ukraine doesn’t have a candidacy to unite all. That is why it is a good place for lovebirds – just what the city needs.
In fact, during our trip from the one bank of the capital to another, a press conference was held. Garik talked a lot and was asked about different things.
WeLoveUA presents the TOP-12 millionaire’s answers.
- About Disneyland in Gidropark: «Building it isn’t my idea. This is what Klychko has spoken of earlier, but he has no money for the construction. Neither have I, but I know how to attract investments here».
- About his pre-election campaign: «I’m mocking absolutely everyone. For example, “Course for 32” is my mockery of Democratic Alliance. They even thought I therefore expressed support for the party, because they are thirty-second on the list. Well, I must disappoint Democratic Alliance – I don’t like anyone in this election campaign. It was said that Poroshenko bought me and I play for him lowering the turnout. There is nothing to comment at all. The only party which I named the price for which I’m gonna sell myself is UKROP. I can announce the price easily: 20 million dollars. Korban was indignant; he told it was too much. But I came to have a cup of coffee with him, not to get sold. I also announced the price for which I will call off my candidacy and call to vote for another party. It’s 2 million dollars. Money should be clean, and, of course, they will be spent for Zhyttieliub. In general, you can buy everything and everyone, without any ‘what-if’s’».
- About citizenship: «I don’t have citizenship. It isn’t meant for many others who have got it. The law in our country is crappy, monstrous and illogical. To get Ukrainian passport, you have to write a paper, which you promise to apply for a waiver of the former citizenship during two years. Of course, no one submits anything then. Moreover, I undertook this procedure when refused from Russian citizenship. And it lasted 8-9 months, but not 2 years. Officially, the Israeli Prime Minister telephoned the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Justice of Ukraine. He asked them to give me citizenship without following some idiotic rules. The President gave the nod and promised to resolve the issue till October 23. So far, everything is silent».
- About why he went to the elections: «My goal is to make fun of the entire pre-election absurd that is happening in the capital. I don’t have the goal to become a mayor, and I’m not ready for this. I just want to people see my posters and smile slightly. It is too little positive».
- About «overrun ones» and Kyiv citizens: «Only citizens of Kyiv are to vote. Those who are not registered have no right to decide the future of the city. I’ve been living in the capital for whole 38 years and I don’t have the right to vote. I think it is absolutely correct. As for the strategies of candidates, everything is simple: the citizen of Kyiv keeps yelling that the capital is only for natives and those not from Kiev put an emphasis on the program and argues that the residence is not the point. Everyone has their own approach».
- About chair of the mayor: «I declare straight away that I’m not ready to be the mayor. The remaining candidates differ from me only by concealing it. Such person must be the manager to the bone, and there are no such candidates on ballots. If I become a mayor, I don’t want to combine work and political activity. I want leave business, and hire good managers to City Council. My working day will lat 4-5 hours».
- About Text Award: «We are going to change the format. We need to gather all the winners together for a common goal. I haven’t invented it yet. Perhaps, it will be a periodical».
- About investments: «There are no areas in which I would never invest. And it’s not investment, but simply costs spent. I don’t have any schedule to profit from the projects I do».
- About renunciation of Russian citizenship: «I refused from Russian citizenship because of Putin and his regime. 100% of my friends do not support this man holding Presidential position. They understand that because of him trouble can come to the house».
- About war in Donbass: «I have my own viewpoint on this war, which is a bit of restructuring with generally accepted ones in this country. I know many residents of Donbass who supported Ukraine. But it did not save them from the war anyway. And that’s not right».
- About Crimea: «Ukraine has done nothing to restrain it. It was just walking and dropped Crimea. And Putin picked it up. Yes, he demeaned himself, but it changes nothing».
- About where Kyiv should move: «Our example is the experience of Reykjavik. The city after the default was led by a professional comedian and his team, who overcame the crisis. During the pre-election debates, candidate states said something like, “Are you really interested in what I think about saving the economics of Reykjavik?” He won 38% of votes. Because people still feel who really loves the city. Such thing wouldn’t be bad for our voters».
