The tributes of Kurynivska tragedy were paid in Kiev
More than a hundred people came to honor the memory of the Kurynivska flood victims, which happened 55 years ago today, 13 March. People of different ages have brought flowers to the monument to the victims of the tragedy near the tram depot in Podil.
Kurenivska tragedy made history March 13, 1961, when the dam, spanning the Babi Yar, burst. In just 15 minutes the liquid earthen shaft weight height with three-storey house demolished everything in its path: houses, trees, vehicles and even people. Most of them suffered the park of Krasin (now Podolsk tram depot). In its place, just a few minutes a solid formed lake, under a layer of which were buried alive by dozens of people.
