Khachapuri: frontiere of Georgian cuisine in Ukraine
Greetings to all of our friends! WeLoveUa Crew are a huge fanatics of tasty dishes! Today we will be discussing such tasty Georgian treat as Khachapuri. For those who live in Europe this dish may be a bit familiar, thanks to the on-the-go food joints, but to residents of US and other regions this will be something new.
Anyways, what is Khachapuri and why you absolutely must try it once you are in Georgia? This is a simple dish that consists of bread and fillings shaped in different ways. Most traditional fillings are meat, beans, eggs. There are a few varieties of their form due to the different locations of cooking. In traditional Georgian cuisine it is baked or fried with some oil until nice and golden.
Ajarian Khachapuri looks like a boat and has an egg an suluguni topping. Others, such as Imeruli and Ossuri are more of pizza family due to their size and amount of fillings inside and outside. In modern variations of this dish the bread may be layered or lentened (more traditional recipe includer sour cream or mineral water for the dough).
Imagine the aroma in the air that will drive you in from miles away. Nobody can resist a hot, juicy suluguni and meat filling, freshly out of the open heat stove.
This dish will leave you breathless. So in order to try this one out we recommend you to stick around for more awesome things to eat in UA (and yes, even if this dish in nowhere close to Ukrainian cuisine it has been a great part of street foods in UA)!
We love you 🙂
