The stolen collection of Dutch masterpieces is found in Ukraine
A collection of Dutch masterpieces, which was stolen 10 years ago, is found in Ukraine. This was stated at the web-site of Westfries museum in the city of Horn.
In July this year, according to the instruction, two men contacted with the Netherlands Embassy in Kiev and offered to buy a collection of paintings.
They identified themselves as the representatives of the Ukrainian volunteer battalion and claimed that they are owners of the collection.
The agency called “Reuters” reports that the collection is found in Donbas. The report also states that the collection includes the items of Dutch golden age of the 17th century. The burglars stole 24 paintings and 70 silver items in 2005.
“Now there are serious reasons to believe that the current owners of stolen works of art will try to resell them again”, – said museum director Ed Herdink
