Active rest in the Carpathian Mountains in summer: the last instructions
In this post, I will add “instructions” for hiking in the Carpathians with several important recommendations. For these ones it will be about clothes, food and medicine, which will be useful to you in your first mountain hike.
Clothes
If you want to get from your mountain adventure maximum pleasure, you need to distribute the clothes into three groups. The first one will be for sleeping: T-shirt, socks, golf pants, a cap.
Try at all times to keep the bedroom set dry and wear it only at night. Believe me, even if you have not dry clothes, it will be better to wear a wet dawn. During the walk you will feel the cold only for the first 10 minutes, in addition in good weather clothes will dry up faster.
The second group includes the clothes which you wear for walking. Take the T-shirt, pants or shorts, two pairs of socks and a hat. It will be better if your “travel clothes” will be made with natural fabrics, but also remember that synthetics drying up much faster. The third group is “reserved” clothes. Here you can add extra clothes, which will save you from unforeseen weather conditions. Be sure to take a sweater or a jacket, and a few pairs of socks, also spare shirt will not prevent.
Provision
You should be very careful with choosing provision assortment. Because in the campaign, you’ll spend a lot of energy and for restoring this energy you need to be faster than normal.
As a result, in addition to soups, cereals and canned meat, I advise you to take the following products: nuts, raisins and dried apricots, honey, chocolate and fat. If you are afraid to eat too much, or to remain without food, make preliminary menu and try to follow it every day. In emergency situations you can eat semi-finished products, but keep in mind that such “fast” food always need to spice something, because there is not enough calories.
First-aid kit
The list of medicines that can be useful for you in the Carpathian Mountains, is almost unlimited. Of course, you could not collect the first-aid kit for all occasions, but however you should not go camping without a patch, bandage, activated charcoal and candies from a sore throat.
These basic recommendations will help you prepare for your first mountain hike. However remember that on decent height your main task is not only to comply with these rules, but also the psychological adaptation takes place.
