Ukrainian artist wants to change the award of Taras Shevchenko
A famous Ukrainian artist, who was invited to become a member of their National Award Committee of Taras Shevchenko, will seek to change its strategy. According to Anatoly Kryvolap prestige in recent premium has fallen dramatically due to the fact that they are often rewarded “random people”.
According to the artist, to qualify for the main Ukrainian State Prize in the field of art, the artist must be known at least in Ukraine, and in an ideal – and in the world. Such cultural figures, according Kryvolap, the country is, but the Committee still ignored them. In addition, he believes that this award should be a reward for his services in the field of culture in the broadest sense, not narrow Shevchenko’s creative theme: “A series of landscapes made by Shevchenko places illustrations of Shevchenko and the books like that – this is a topic for another award which may establish standing. The spectrum of genres represented in the National Award should be wider. ”
Anatoly Krivolap also notes that it is not necessary to give the prize to anyone, just to fill the vacancies, as it is, in his opinion, spoils the level and reputation: “If there is not a worthy candidate, we can simply not give out the prize or miss a year.” The artist said that he sees the point is to be Natspremii jury only if its proposals will be taken into account.
