Flashback: Asking Alexandria In Ukraine
The Final Episode. No, I’m not talking about Asking Alexandria’s song. Well, at least not exactly. The name just helps to express what you feel when finding out that some foreign band comes to Ukraine. Actually, it has become a reason I started buying tickets to different concerts. Even when I’m not the greatest fan, I know these guys won’t come back, at least during nearest 5 or 10 years. That was the reason I went to Asking Alexandria’s concert.
First, the band played some shows in Russia. And then it started… They are awful. They must have been drunk. Danny doesn’t know how to sing [some Asking Alexandria songs don’t require much singing, by the way]. Not enough songs from early albums. The sound is awful. And it went on and on. Then the panic attack in all social networks started. In spite of some classics:
- I’m 15, am I allowed attending the concert without parents?
- When will the door open?
- Where are they going to stay?
- Who is going to meet the guys at the airport?
- Is there anyone who can give me a ticket, ‘cause I don’t have money to buy the one?
- Is there going to be a live broadcast?
- Can someone call me so I can hear the guys performing?
- If there’s someone else who’s alone, we can meet earlier and go get some drinks.
- People from Kyiv, is there anything interesting in your city? What can I do if I have some free time?
There appeared a new coming wave of panic, “ATTENTION! EMERGENCY! I’M SELLING THE TICKET!”. Well, that’s it. The thing I was actually waiting for. The guys must be not really good at live performances…
This “not-really-good” thing resulted in one thing: they didn’t try to show their best. Everyone could notice that it wasn’t really important how everything was going to happen. But the show was pretty good. Frankly speaking, I was even waiting for Danny-doesn’t-know-how-to-sing to fail with hitting high notes in Moving On, where the singing is needed. But he managed to improvise, and everything went great.
To make a long story short, I can’t say anything negative about the show. There were some troubles with instruments, and everything went quite for a while. No one even understood what was going on.
Nothing negative about management, but the things were different with the crowd. The crowd – mostly teenagers of 15-18 years old – went wild. That was a bit scary. Lost cell phones, keys, work access cards, watches, probably, lost teeth. It is a usual thing at the shows like this, but the room crowded with hyperactive fans, trying to show off and show their excitement in a bit aggressive way – I was just lucky to get somewhere on the stairs behind.
After the concert was over, a lot of videos (mostly of terrible quality) appeared. Alongside with the photos with those lucky ones who found the answer to the question No 3. Dozens of comments like “I didn’t manage to get there, so I hope to be luckier next time”. And some special columns, like “Please, help me to find that girl in black jeans and a shirt”, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to hit you, I was under control”, and “You drunk [censored] who punched me so hard in the stomach I believe karma finds and gets you!”, started to work hard.
And, of course, there left some room for the joy after Ben Bruce posted a photo on the Instagram, telling everything was awesome. Personally, I doubt everything seemed awesome for those guys, it was more like a tradition, but thanks, anyway.
So, coming back to The Final Episode. Asking Alexandria changed it to I Won’t Give In. Maybe, the ‘new guy’ helped. The one from Ukraine, whose name is Den. The one who’s singing now. Instead of Danny. Or maybe he doesn’t know how to sing, either. We can find it out in November. And now turn on Asking Alexandria and don’t ever believe the comments you read in social networks.
